Fall is just around the corner, which means closed-toe shoes (sad). This also means you’ll be unpacking your winter heels and boots to face a new season of gravel, mud, rain, snow, sleet, cobblestone, brick and asphalt. The best way to make your vintage shoes last is regular maintenance. Winter outfitting usually includes making sure your leather or wood-stacked heel is doing ok and replacing the bottom chunk with durable material and/or covering the entire sole with a textured plastic to last the whole season. We’ve never used that spray that waterproofs suede due to fear…does anyone have a good review of it?

DIYing new soles is always a possibility, we found a vid and some relevant instructions for the crafty types. Prince of Petworth also has a great thread with suggestions from the locals…let us know if you have a favorite cobbler we should be considering!
