  • Music for Lovers: Ball and Chain

    January 7, 2010

What I am into right now, which might seem incongruous:
(this song + these outfits= best mashup?)

(the serious serious androgynous looks in this video)

    Style Shots: Ronia Coats

    December 21, 2009

Ronia’s big sister Anoko is a fantastic stylist as you can see from this photo! Anoko quickly whipped together this amazing all-Treasury 1880s meets the 1920s outfit! It reminded us of the fashion in The Young Victoria (see it!) where the collars and flares on the jackets made us wish for a Victorian revival for men as well.

    Music for Lovers: Cry

    December 8, 2009

The 80s hair is so crucial in this video that I had to post it. Thanks to Ally, I am now OBSESSED with this song. It SPEAKS to me.

    Music for Lovers: Washed Out

    November 17, 2009

Why am I already thinking of tropic getaways? Winter hasn’t even started. This song is getting me through the months until I am able to get away to PR. SO CHILL.

    MidCity Love – Redeem’s Anniversary

    November 5, 2009

Amid our pre-opening frenzy and multi-tasking, we received an email that reminded us how excited we were to move into our storefront and become a part of what is lovingly called “MidCity” area. The email was from Redeem’s owner Lori Parkerson letting us know that we were welcome and that we were opening a store within [...]

    Very Much So

    November 3, 2009

    Spotted by Erin in NYC……

    Style Icon: Vivienne Westwood

    November 2, 2009

After reading the T Magazine story on Ms. Westwood, I couldn’t help but revist her awesome style prowess. Who better to look up to in times like this than a woman with a strong sense of artistry, individuality and humor?

    Goldie

    October 28, 2009

We were so happy to see Múm on stage last week and even more thrilled to see the 60s gold booties from Treasury in action! Behold the mythical shoes…

    (pic from their blog)

    Style Shots: Laura

    October 27, 2009

Laura stopped in and immediately saw the potential for this 80’s high-waisted skirt with corseted leather waistband that she snapped up. It looks sleek with fitted tops like this white + warren turtleneck and with both dress shoes and boots. Tights make it office-ready and accessorizing takes it into the evening. Lovely!

    Music for Lovers: Joan

    October 8, 2009

    I want that hair!

    Style Inspiration: Life

    September 23, 2009

Digging through the LIFE archives for some inspiration…is it too early in the season for this?

    Style Shots: Tia

    September 22, 2009

We love Tia’s casual-cool look…not in the least because she is wearing 50% Treasury items!

    Style Shots: Stacie

    September 4, 2009

Stacie came by last weekend to check out our sale and we couldn’t get over her amazing style…yep, she just tied her belt instead of latching it. AWESOME. Also Dior logo bag from the ’80s, sweet gladiators and high-waist shorts. We love it!

Music for Lovers: Love My Way

    September 1, 2009

Men! Pay attention! High waist! Shoulder pads! Shrunken blazers! It’s not just for women any more!!

Style Icon: I am Erica Kane!

    August 26, 2009

The leopard print, the shoulders, the sequins and the Vidal Sassoon waves…not to mention that her face has slowly morphed into an entirely new one!

Beyond the hair and make-up and stilettos, Erica Kane was the first person to get a legal abortion on TV ever–score one for women’s rights.

Music for Lovers: Gary Gilmore’s Eyes

    August 25, 2009

So even though this punk classic was filmed on Top of the Pops in the ’70s, the look is so au courant that it hurts my eyes (hehe). The moto jacket, the angular sunglasses, even their hair is straight out of my Fall inspiration pile, seriously so Raf Simons.

    Klein Tools

    August 21, 2009

We’ve always been enamored with re-purposing and re-claiming in regards to fashion so it comes as no surprise that we often look in weirdo places for key pieces for our wardrobes, vintage notwithstanding. Nurses’ shoes, gardening hats and now tool bags have all caught our eyes.

These beautiful, bright bags are the perfect size for travel [...]

    Washington Wizard: Future Times

    August 19, 2009

We love these guys…hence why we asked their affiliates to DJ our grand opening party. People doing creative things in DC hold a special place in our hearts. Throwing parties, making music and releasing records, Future Times is an aesthetic expression of musical love and the desire to share it with the world. Check their [...]

Music for Lovers: Hurt So Good

    August 12, 2009

Ignore for a minute the fact that Susan Cadogan seems to be a mile away from the microphone and hone in her awesome bustier jumpsuit, beautiful hair and fanciful earrings. Plus this song is perfect for summer.

    Founder of Dansk Passes

    August 4, 2009

favorite dansk enameled pots as wall art by heart of light via poetic home
Belated R.I.P.  to Theodore Nierenberg, founder of Dansk. Without him, my antique hunts would undoubtedly be less fun and my cookware a lot less cute and colorful.  Although I am starting to grow out of my obsession with mid-century, early Dansk pieces will [...]

    Style Inspiration: Yma Sumac

    July 31, 2009

Yma Sumac has inspired us this season and beyond. Discovered via the incredible Jigsaw, there’s nothing in these looks we wouldn’t support. The weighty metal jewelry, the headpieces, the woven layers–we’ve tried to offer similar touches at Treasury. Outlandishness can really be appreciated in the fashion world and we support those going all out! Piling [...]

    Man At Work

    July 28, 2009

Did you know Buy Olympia has a whole Sam McPheeters section? It made my day! Loving the tees, and would love any man in this one:

There’s something about graphic tees that just makes an outfit, and I like the subtlety of a two-color silkscreen. Ooga Booga also got a tee, and I would recommend Clog [...]
