Music for Lovers: Mixx
Memories…I’m pretty sure Romy Croft cribbed my junior high mixtapes…this mix is so crucial, full of all my faves from the 90s and then some more jams. My flashbacks to some of these tracks include flashbacks to outfits of yore…think bike shorts, school uniform issue pleated skirts and Doc Martens…wait, I was wearing that shit last night.

Local Design Stars
We were so honored to be featured in the Post Magazine last weekend with two other local design minds. Holly’s story is both illuminating and inspirational, and Marvin Joseph’s pics of all the designers were utterly delightful. Come on into Treasury to check out Ouroboros, the subject of our section.

Music for Lovers: End of Summer
The angelic new age vibes of this video/song are perfect for the last days of summer…
New LITHICS
We’ve launched our second collection of LITHICS, check them out in store! They’re also available in different finishes, so ask us about custom orders.
Cast from salvaged molds that were on the verge of extinction–their previous owner wanted to melt them for the raw materials–LITHICS is a line of newly minted rings rooted in past disciplines. Treasury has reproduced these original, architecturally-founded rings in sterling silver, each one hand-finished in New York. With designs from the 1920s-50s that hark back to the epic elements in nature, including cliffs, mountains, coral reefs and thorny vegetation, the LITHICS rings are a testament to the true value of beauty: timelessness. We’re so happy to be able to offer these stunning, organic pieces that could have been lost forever.
Androcles - Truly a design of strange, unique beauty – raised botanical thorns come together as a claw-like form.
Safdie - Named for architect Moshe Safdie, as he ring reminds us of his Habitat 67 apartment in Montreal. It wraps beautifully around the curve of your finger.
Coral – Our biggest ring, perfect for evoking a statement of power in natural beauty.
Sorisan – A beaufiful climbing geometric piece with bulk and grace.
Liberty – A study in movement reminiscent of seagrass on a windswept beach.
Gris – A simpler cousin of Safdie evoking cubism; it captures a simple base form without sacrificing a statement.
Urchin – Viewed straight-on it appears as a protective shell of a sea ceature, while in profile it appears as a crescent of rays.
Introducing: OUROBOROS
The infinite cycle of cultural creation includes a foundation of recycling and re-inspiration. Ouroboros came out of a desire to create something new rooted in the past. We’ve designed a series of essential pieces to complete your wardrobe and elevate your style to timeless chic. Each piece is hand-made in DC, following original designs that came out of both a need for simple, basic, elegant clothes and the antique metier. The Ouroboros is a symbol of recreation and rebirth, so at Treasury we’ve taken the essence of vintage craftsmanship and instilled it into our modern basics. Using eco friendly textile sources including vintage deadstock, and made to our rigorous specifications, these are pieces you can treasure forever. Available in limited numbers in store now!

The Hunt
I’ve been traveling this summer, trying to track down the best vintage for Treasury in Europe. That means I’ve sweated through some of the best flea markets on the continent: Koło in Warsaw, Les Puces de Saint-Ouen in Paris, Flomarket in Mauerpark Berlin, Mercat del Encants in Barcelona, etc. It’s awesome to hunt and dig through the stalls in these locations in search of treasure, I love it.
But what I really hate is visiting vintage shops where you have to dig through mounds and levels and shelves of crap piled upon more crap. It’s an endless struggle and takes the fun of the hunt. Here are the worst offenders I’ve come upon:
Style Inspiration
Music for Lovers: Euro Edition
So this doesn’t have a proper video but I was introduced to this song recently and really wanted to share it’s trippy vibes with you. I love imagining Greek women in the ’60s grooving to this in their poly maxi dresses and leather sandals.
Style Shots: Brandi and Jackie

These ladies are proof that ,even on a sweltering day of 105 degrees with 50% humidity, you can still look stylish and fresh. Jackie (visit her at Cusp) and Brandi were like a cool breeze that floated through the shop this past weekend. I love the laid back comfort of their looks, topped off with matching hobo slings.
Shine DC

Check out this great addition to the D.C. blogosphere – Shine DC, started by Sue Kyung Kim. Sue was kind enough to include us in the premier, along with our favorite fashion magazine Worn. The goal of Shine is to provide a directory of artistic events, places, and great boutiques. We love the look of it and we can’t wait to see how the site fills up. Keep doing it, Sue!
Customer Service
A couple of days ago, Helena Christensen’s mom (who looks a lot like her) helped me try on a pair of Alaia hot shorts in her vintage store. Needless to say, they didn’t fit me (they used to belong to Helena). But I was drawn to the store itself because I knew it was full of Helena’s castoffs and her mom helping me only sweetened the deal. Vintage is so wonderful because each piece has a story and when you know the story behind what you are wearing, it can give you a special allure of confidence. A lot of Treasury clients always ask if we know the story behind the pieces we sell, and most times we do because Cathy and I do all the buying for the store and can often trace it to its original source. This is a long way of saying THANK YOU to you all because Treasury has officially been open a year and we are looking forward to spending many more helping you into those Alaia shorts or whatever and telling you all about the pieces we’ve collected for you!
Most Clever
I love Star Styling and this new shirt is so clever…not in the least because the APC shop is across the street from them…
