  • Style Inspiration: Yma Sumac

    July 31, 2009

Yma Sumac has inspired us this season and beyond. Discovered via the incredible Jigsaw, there’s nothing in these looks we wouldn’t support. The weighty metal jewelry, the headpieces, the woven layers–we’ve tried to offer similar touches at Treasury. Outlandishness can really be appreciated in the fashion world and we support those going all out! Piling [...]

    Dog Days of Summer

Join us this weekend for Dog Days, the annual summer sale that happens along the 14th + U Street corridor.
We’ll have a $5 (!!!) summer sale bin on the sidewalk, reductions on summer stuff upstairs and homemade ginger lemonade!
    Saturday 12pm-8pm and Sunday 12pm-6pm!
Here’s the map for the whole Dog Days area, it’s sure to be [...]

    Washington Wizard: Good Wood

    July 30, 2009

What we love about Good Wood is the absolute variety we see every time we step into the store (which is often). It’s not just farmhouse chic, or industrial heaviness, or mid-century focused. It’s all those styles and more. Whether we need to find an old dentist’s cabinet, a huge wooden navy trunk or a [...]

    Music for Lovers: Aaron Broomfield

    July 29, 2009

Our friends Beautiful Swimmers rocked some Aaron Broomfield at our opening party and we’ve been hooked since. The copper leggings, the pretty much shirtless cowbell player in the back with blue pants and the all-out tux are really doing it for us.

    Mad Women

    July 28, 2009

Can you guess who’s who in this Treasury Girlz approximation?

    Sad But Hopeful

We were bummed to hear about DC Mini Gallery running into some trouble. But there is hope for them to remain open and functioning! Spread the word!
p.s. We covered their opening here.

    Man At Work

Did you know Buy Olympia has a whole Sam McPheeters section? It made my day! Loving the tees, and would love any man in this one:

There’s something about graphic tees that just makes an outfit, and I like the subtlety of a two-color silkscreen. Ooga Booga also got a tee, and I would recommend Clog [...]

    Wow

    July 23, 2009

It’s all true. I know I’ve been harping on the ethics of fashion/consumerism for a long time, but maybe our lovely readers will once again click on a link to read even more about sweatshops and luxury intersecting.

    Music for Lovers: Fleet Foxes

This might be more relevant for fall fashion (dropping in stores soon though), but I couldn’t resist the animals in the video.  Also, we’d like to see more men in vests for evening looks.

    Guilty Pleasure

    July 22, 2009

I don’t really care either way about Alexa Chung, but this item-by-item rundown of her on-air wardrobe is shockingly addictive. Those Chanel heels!

    Style Inspiration: Library of Congress

The Library of Congress Flickr stream can be a source of endless inspiration. These are from a set called “1930s-40s in Color.” Excellent! As for the DCers, visiting is pretty cool…though instead of getting books down for yourself like at a normal library, you put in requests and professional expert librarians get the books for [...]

    Garden Accessories

    July 20, 2009

I wanna be this woman in the future. She brings the perfect balance of style and dignity to the job of caring for the bonsais. We heart a lot. (Quigley_Brown via Prince of Petworth).

    Cannot Hold Back a Squeal!

OMG why are these sooooooooo awesome:

Organic cotton and recycled tires…made for each other in a Liberty print. Totally in the vein of these oxford favorites:

    Music for Lovers: Trouble

Yes, I own this album on CD and LP, is that a crime? Monochromatic looks for the menz for summer is a must.

Music for Lovers: MJ 4 EVA

    July 2, 2009

I didn’t want to bring up Michael because the tragedy was too much…an immensely talented genius on so many levels destroyed by his own obsessions fueled by our obsessions…brings tears to my eyes. But I’ve had this video bookmarked for a while so I guess now is as good a time to share it as [...]
